3.6 Application Version
ECU's have a version of software installed. This is generally referred to as its "Application Number", "App", or "Application Version". All ECUs exhibit some application specific exclusive behaviors, meaning that the ECU will only accept certain tuning calibration/tuning files. These application versions are represented by numbers (ie 127,176, 9, 617, etc) and these numbers are not sequential or structured in a pattern. Some cross application compatibilities exist. For example, Applications 9, 44, and 205 can be used on the same motorcycle/ECU. Below is a chart that depicts some of the "rules" that govern these selections. The current Application Version can be obtained by using the "Get ECU Details" command.
All this is to say, this is not the path to the solution for this customer. When opening the map file (.hdm) for a 823 family map, you have to select the model. This is very important and can do odd things if you fail to do it correctly.
Keeping the above in mind: P1691 and P1693 are Cooling fans shorted DTCs. This 2019 CVO/CUSTOM CVO STREET GLIDE (FLHXSE) is likely NOT a Twin cooled (limited). The selection needed is the CVO Air Cooled. Not the CVO Twin/Water Cooled.
LAST TIP! In the last update, we improved how those selections work.- It's more obvious what options are available.
- SAVING a map with the SAVE AS function will RESET the selection. So when you open that file AGAIN, it will prompt you to select.

Note: Direct Link will prevent the user from accidentally programming incompatible application versions, but will not prevent incorrect apps being intentionally sent to compatible ECUS as in the case of 617 Air Cooled vs 617 Water Cooled or the 2006 Dyna with 141 CL (oxygen sensors) vs 2006 Dyna 141 without. This allows the programmer to update or change improperly programmed motorcycles, if such a problem occurs.
