3.6 Application Version
ECUs have a specific version of software installed, commonly referred to as the "Application Number," "App," or "Application Version." Each ECU operates with certain exclusive behaviors tied to its application version, meaning the ECU will only accept specific calibration or tuning files compatible with that version.
These application versions are represented by numbers (e.g., 127, 176, 9, 617) and do not follow a sequential or structured pattern. However, some cross-application compatibilities exist. For instance, Application Versions 9, 44, and 205 can be used on the same motorcycle or ECU.
The chart below outlines some of the rules governing these selections. To check the current Application Version on an ECU, use the "Get ECU Details" command.

Note: Direct Link will prevent the user from accidentally programming incompatible application versions, but will not prevent incorrect apps being intentionally sent to compatible ECUS as in the case of 617 Air Cooled vs 617 Water Cooled or the 2006 Dyna with 141 CL (oxygen sensors) vs 2006 Dyna 141 without. This allows the programmer to update or change improperly programmed motorcycles, if such a problem occurs.
